Quality Control

Job Description

A quality control inspector has the responsibility of ensuring quality in all goods provided by the company as well as the quality of all incoming items from vendors and customers. The quality control inspector is the last line of defense for inspecting items prior to shipping to ensure products meet customer expectations and company standards. They are the last company employee to handle an item before it reaches the customer.


Responsibilities

  • Inspect items prior to shipping
  • Inspect incoming inventory items
  • Inspect items on display
  • Reports and recommendations for used & vintage projects
  • Inspect items setup, repaired or listed by anyone else
  • Communicate all damaged goods to store manager or product manager

Accountabilities

  • Return rate / repairs to outbound items
    • KPI: Loss of revenue from returns
  • Damage found on incoming items
    • KPI: Profit / partial refunds to Diablo from vendors & customers

Authority

  • Deny product and seek refund from vendor or customer
  • Have guitar luthiers fix missed issues prior to shipping to customers

Schedule

  • Daily
    • Inspect all outgoing inventory before it is packed and shipped
      • Hand off issue guitars to Repair Specialists
      • Have Customer Service Representative communicate with customer if there are unfixable issues not disclosed
    • Inspect all incoming inventory
      • Report any issues to New Product Manager
  • Weekly
    • Check on status of pending returns, repairs, and customer responses to resolutions
  • Monthly
    • Check available quantities of inspection cards, make more if needed
  • Quarterly
    • Review quality control check lists, and processes with management, make improvements and adjustments
