In-Store Repair Specialist

Job Description

The primary role of the in-store repair specialist is to repair and setup inventory guitars in preparation for sales listings. This may include minor adjustments to brand new items to more elaborate repairs, and restorations for used and vintage items limited to the in-store tools, work space and resources available.


Responsibilities

  • Prioritize instruments in order of value, turnaround time and expected potential customer interest
  • Fill out inspection card fully and accurately for every instrument
  • Setup, repair and clean every guitar so that it is 100% ready to be photographed and listed
  • Provide any necessary photos such as pickups, pot codes and other important parts or details
  • Inform listing specialist of any discovered issues such as replaced parts, damages, or repairs

Accountabilities

  • KPI: Number of setups and repairs for listings monthly
  • KPI: Average turnaround time of inventory from arrival date to listing date

Authority

  • Order necessary parts for repairs or restorations
  • Use available store owned parts, pickups and cases for inventory as needed
  • Decide what type of parts, repairs or modifications are necessary for each item

Schedule

  • Daily
    • Fix any issues with outgoing inventory
    • Set up guitars and document them for the Listing Specialist
    • Update repairs and setups in sheets and on color coded case stickers
  • Weekly
    • Review inventory waiting for repair
    • Review inventory waiting on parts
    • Order parts for projects
  • Monthly
    • Review metrics and KPI's with management
    • Discuss ways for improvement such as tools, technology, staff or schedule changes
  • Quarterly
    • Order commonly needed parts, tools and/or accessories to make work more efficient

Goals

Improve the number of guitar listings monthly.

Maintain positive customer feedback on setups.

Keep the listing specialists' job consistent by fulfilling company standards.
